Tornados Hockey Club

Dear Tornados.

Jenny 'Boobs' Bloomfield our Marketing committee member has decided to step down from her role on the committee.

Jenny has been on the committee  for nearly two years and in that time has done alot for the club, she secured some great new sponsors, organised last years gala dinner, last years Vietnam Tour kit and has had the difficult task of organising the new playing kit for this year.
Jenny has kindly agreed to ensure the new kit delivery is sorted before totally handing over her responsibilities. Jenny's  contribution will be missed.

This does mean we have an opening on the committee. If anyone is interested in taking on the marketing role please contact me asap.

The main repsonsibilities for this role are: overseeing the website,  blog, and the facebook pages, recruitment, sponsorship, club communication, working as part of the committee and contributung to the decision making process.

Cheers

Jacqueline

THC - Farewell Tournament: 16 th August 2014 at Hockey Village. Boon Lay

Tornados Hockey Club

To all fellow Tornados and friends,

As you may or may not know, we will sadly be saying goodbye to Rich Ayres, Helen Waddell, Lizzie Morris, Nicola Knaust and Alex Dinsdale this Summer. To 'celebrate' them leaving us and all the hard work they have put into the club over the time that each of them has been here, we will be holding a tournament to send them off in style.

As all of them are returning to the UK (Nicola token German), we are looking to hold a Best of British themed 6/7 a-side mixed tournament at Boon Lay Hockey Pitch.

Date: Saturday 16 August

Time: 1.30pm to 5pm

Venue: Hockey Village – Boon Lay

Theme: Each player needs to bring something edible or drinkable that is associated with being British (e.g. Scotch egg, Cider, Digestives etc….)

Cost: SGD 10 per head

For those willing participants please RSVP to Cynthia Leung - c.leung@progressivege.com by Friday August 1st.

The plan is to play a friendly tournament with a prize being something British (TBC)!

There will be a cash bar available serving soft drinks as well as beer, but feel free to BYO.

To repeat - this is a mixed tournament so BOYS and GIRLS are welcome as well as all supporters.

Cynth can also be reached on 81006172 if you have any questions

THC - Match Reports - 19th and 20th July 2014

Tornados Hockey Club

All teams played their final matches of the current season this weekend.

Men B had a very happy ending to their season with a 7-1 victory over the arch enemy of SCC. Dane also fought bravely against Erik for a tied man of the match; Erik limped to the finish line in the boat race that ensued.

Men A have a had a very tough run to the end of the season with double headers two weekends on the trot. Unfortunately the slow start and rapid finish to the season took it's toll, without subs, but fighting on, unfortunately ending on a low with a double loss. Women A ended on a high with a 1-1 draw.

As Faz said, everyone should hold their heads high, we're proud to be Tornados!

THC - Match Reports - 5th to 13th July 2014

Tornados Hockey Club

A few matches early on in the fortnight with an action packed second weekend. The Dutch ran away scared from men B on 5th July, giving them a 3-0 walkover. Men A had a twofer against SRC, making up a remaining 20 minutes and following that on with a full match; equally matched and ending in 1-1 in the remaining and 2-2 in the full. Women A had a tough mid-week match, also against SRC. As always SRC played hard with lots of subs and ended up the victors. Saturday 12th saw everyone in action with mixed results. Women A unfortunately were the wrong side of a 1-3 scoreline, Men B also lost to NTU, but Men A stomped to a 9-0 victory over NYP. Men A ended an exhausting week with another match on the Sunday against old rivals SCC. The quantity of matches took their toll and unusually Tornados were unsuccessful in the fight.

THC - Match Reports - Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th June 2014

Tornados Hockey Club

A bit of a break for the teams with only Liga C playing on 21st June, and eeking out a draw against Totally Minds. With the other teams well rested they stormed into action on the weekend of 28th June. Both Liga teams took on opponents on the Saturday, with mixed success. Women A won a hard fought victory with only 11 players against a strong Theresians side. Men A had a disappointing match against Jansenites, going down 2 - 4 but feeling like they deserved at least a draw. An interesting welcome to Singapore hockey for new boy Jan. The men B took on Khalsa, and that's all we'll say about that. And last, but never least, the might women B played SRC in the 3rd place play-off of the national Womens League Div 2. They knew it would be hard work going in, based on previous results, but never gave up. 0-2 down in the first half but fighting to the end with a final score of 0-2. Huge thanks to the Beasleys in their final match appearance, great cheerleaders and amazing spirit definitely lifted everyone for the second half. Look out for some fascinating head wear in the post season celebration reports!

Tornados Hockey Club

Hi Tornados

This weekend sees another in a long line of "Super" Saturdays

The plan:-

Watch the mens A's and Bs play their hockey at Sengkang ( mens B's at 4.30 and mens A's at 6pm)

We will then take a coach from Sengkang to Boomerang at about 8 pm where we will celebrate the victories !! Singing is guaranteed.

8.30 to 11.30 Food, Drink and socialising at Boomerang.
Partying from 11.30 wherever the crowd takes us

There will be some "free" food and drink at Boomerang so dont be late or you will miss out and there will be beers and ciders available pitch side to keep the spectators vocal chords refreshed, to support and applaud the skills of the Tornados players.

It will also be a SAD super Saturday, as it will be the Beasley's last event with Tornados before they go to New Zealand. However there is never a dull moment when the Beasleys are around so come along and say a fond farewell to the "super" Warwick and Reachelle.

Everyone is welcome. Join us at Sengkang or meet us at Boomerang, Boat Quay

See you there

Jacque
