History

Founded in Singapore by a group of hockey veterans, Tornados Hockey Club was registered as a hockey club with the Singapore Registry of Societies on 28 November 2003. Since then, the club has grown steadily and is presently one of the few full fledged hockey clubs in the Singapore with well balanced competitive and social components.

In 2004, the club won the Samurai’s Cup, a quadrangular veteran hockey tourney in Malaysia and its Men 1st XI gained promotion to Division 2 in the Singapore national league. In 2005 and 2006 the Mens 1st XI was promoted to Division 1 and Premier Division in Successive years. In 2007 the club saw hockey players from both the Therasians Hockey Club (Ladies Club) and the Australian & New Zealand Association (ANZA) join the fold which boosted membership of the club many times over. In 2007 the club made an unprecedented move into Vietnam where it promoted hockey to the school children and new adult hockey players. The current success within the club can be traced back to early 2003 when the then management embarked on an ambitious plan to make the club a genuine centre for the enjoyment and development of hockey. This club is managed through the hard work of the membership, corporate sponsorship and private funding.
