THC - Roger's Update - 20th June 2017

Q: Where do you find a no-legged dog?

We are nearly HALF way through the year! Time flies when you are having fun.

I have two call outs:

1) Anyone wanting to put their hat in the ring to help out our divine Phoebe for our Annual Ball please reply to this email.
2) We are looking for some support for the Mens 3's and 4's for thier league season. Coaches or managers that may be interested please contact Izzy, Adi or Lawrence to find out what would be in it for you.

Staying on the topic of hockey...

With only two games to go for the 1st and 2nd league teams our focus will move to the mens 3's and 4's leagues so watch out for some adjustments in training times for men's 1 and 2's moving into next month. Dependent on numbers for training we will be making adjustments so that everyone can have pitch time.

Women please note that your training will continue to be at Delta on EVERY Tuesday at 8pm. As we transition into different training for LIGA come prepared for varied trainings and coaches. Speaking of LIGA...

RESULTS

I told the kids I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. So they unplugged my computer and threw out my wine... lol lol lol

The Mens 1's made the arduous journey out to Sengkang to complete the 15 odd remaining minutes left vs SCC. Previously 1-0 the men definately proved they were competitive with the SCC squad. The result of the short but exciting game was 1 all meaning they walked away with a loss against the topside 2-1.
The ladies 1's, in the last game of thier season, played off against the Dutch who turned out to be a very different team in this second encounter. Looking for revenge after the 7-0 defeat suffered in the first encounter they delivered a 8-1 belting in a good show of skill and strength. A nice, well executed reverse stick shot from Jen Law was the only redemption from the game.
Ladies 2's are rescheduled to play due to lightning alarms.

RESULTS
It wasn't a great Saturday for the Tornados with our best result being a draw to the ladies 2's in a game that they felt they should've won. The ladies scored their equalizer through Sun in a game where for at least the first half they dominated possession. No doubt they will take that emotion into their last game of the season against Crescent looking for a win!
The Men's 1s were playing top of the table and Premier team SCC. After starting well, the heat of a 3pm game started to take its toll; the boys conceded a goal before the rest of their game was called off to lightning alerts.
After some down time the men's 2s took to the pitch hoping to cinch a win to give them something to celebrate at their end of season drinks. Unfortunately they didn't but it didn't dampen the spirits with a good accumulation of fines gathered over the year to distract them from the loss.
The mens 3's on the other side of Singapore at the same time were playing for second position on the ladder! The men had the game in hand, holding possession and looking the far better team. Unfortunately as it happens, the men lost their grip on the game losing 2-1 in the dying minutes of the game. However it should be recognised that the Men's 3's and 4's have had a FANTASTIC LIGA season positioning 3rd and 4th respectively. Well done guys, here's hoping the form continues into your league season.
The ladies 1's finished off the Saturday with a loss to the top of the ladder team, SCC. 4-0 did not reflect the quality of play and the great defensive ability of the Tornados. Min had a fantastic game in goals making quality and speccy saves to keep the score reasonable. Everyone contributed to a game that was the last for the ladies 1's captain. Sarah Law's years in the club have been memorable with her obviously talented hockey skills and her leadership of the team for the last two years. The ladies would like to thank you Sarah for your hockey prowess and your contribution to the Tornados. You will be missed.

RESULTS
It was a full weekend of hockey for all teams last weekend with the season starting to wrap up for the leagues and LIGA. The ladders are close at the top with all teams across the board looking for a top half finish.
The mens 4's unfortunately lost thier last game of the season but overall finished well on the ladder showing promise for thier upcoming league season.
Mens 3's are finishing off a great LIGA season beating the Buccaneers 3-0 with only one game to play before thier League season starts in July.
Mens 2's had a great win, with Berni keeping the goals conceded to a minimum, keeping them in a close race to the top 3 positions.
Mens 1's had an unfortunate loss to CSC ruling out a top spot finish having been in close contention all season, however they still have a chance of finishing in the top 3 slots and have plenty to play for.
Ladies 2's had a double header and turned thier season around getting two great wins with some fine hockey skills. Of note in the two games was a fabulous top right hand goal struck by Jacque streaming into the circle. These wins catapault the ladies into the middle of the ladder with two games in hand.
Ladies 1's despite thier 6-2 win over the weekend will find it hard to hold onto thier current second place on the ladder with a third placed Jansenites to play the lower half of the ladder and the ladies to take on the top spot SCC team.
