New Website Launch

Tornados Hockey Club (Singapore) has relaunched its website.

See www.tornadoshockey.org.sg for the new look.

The new site is much simplified, with a calendar of key dates (such as hockey matches, social events, training), news stories and a link to the facebook group where you can find photos and discussion boards.

Team captains are asked to submit the results of each hockey match to the website soon after the game. Through the wonders of technology, this can even be done from your Blackberry or iPhone while waiting for the first post-game beer!

Ladies Show Quality in 5-0 Win

The Tornados Ladies yet again demonstrated why they are hot contenders to win the league with a 5-0 outing against Indian Association.

Gemma Thomas was voted MPV and scored her second hat trick of the season, with supporting goals from Bridget and Abi. A curious rash of cards saw green for Lou and Tara, and a yellow for Rosie in a suspected case of mistaken identity.

Overall, a convincing performance which keeps THC in top spot.

Men's 2s 2-0 Nat. Women

A makeshift team from the Tornados Men's 2nd XI easily romped to a 2-0 win over the Singapore National Ladies in pre-season friendly.

After a team talk that consisted of little more than a round of introductions, the men, with their pride on the line, soon found a rhythm and came in at half time with a 1-0 lead thanks to a field goal from Yi-Wa.

Stevan K, back from injury sustained in KK, found his pre-match Beer and Fags diet to be a sound investment as he led the defence to repel a short-lived come-back from the girls after the restart. Agro then made the game safe for Tornados in the mele after a well-worked short corner.

Early days, but the season looks promising for the Tornados.

THC Tour to Kota Kinabalu

THC enjoyed the hospitality of the KK hockey fraternity, when they took part in the MAS-HSBC Hockey Tournament over the weekend.

The first day went far too well, as Agro knocked up 3 goals with Nick adding to the tally. THC's record of 3 wins and 1 loss qualified them for the Cup competition on the Sunday. It was at around this point that it became apparent that the team had actually gone there for the beer, and despite a valiant, if jaded, effort, narrowly lost out to Wild Hogs in the next game.

Special mention must be made to Steve K for his magic and undefeated 7 minutes before being stretchered off, and Queenie for arousing the loudest applause the stadium saw all weekend.

Ladies Trounce SCC 3-0

The Tornados Chix continues their dominance of the SHF Division 1 Championship with a 3-0 demolition of the Singapore Cricket Club.

SCC stood up well in the first half, with Emilie Petitjean in the THC goal making 2 fine saves to keep the score 0-0 going in at half time. However, with a defence whose combined age totalled over 120, SCC crumbled to the Tornados magnificent pressure after the break and THC finished up deserved winners to maintain their unbeaten season and sit at the top of the table.

Goals from Sha, Charlotte and Gemma (pen.)

MVP: Sha
