Morning Tornados  It is a very Happy Monday for the Dutch and English as the England Ladies and Dutch men won Gold in the European championships at the weekend   More importantly our mens 3s had their first win in this league versus the Dutch in a 4- nil spanking. That was their second game of the weekend; they drew the first and a number of them were out partying on Saturday at Boomerang. Well done boys! Sadly our first teams both went down 3-nil. However both played really well and the ladies were playing with a bare 11  (9.5 really as one of the players had 'food poisoning' and another is usually a GK but did nearly score) There was a good turnout at the social on Saturday which was doubling up as a farewell to Nel who is leaving Singapore to grow grapes in Tasmania. So long Nel, you, Pete and the boys will be really missed.       This week   Changes to our normal plans as Delta has been commandeered by the governement to hold Election Rallies for the next two weeks! We're hoping when we get back to Delta it will also have been relayed.   We will train on Monday at Evans road for the next two weeks      Monday Club Training 8-10pm Evans road- All teams except ladies 2s Tuesday  Ladies 2s friendly match vs SCC 7-8.30 meet at 6.30   Evans Road  Thursday Ladies 1s friendly vs SCC  7-8.30 Evans Road  Saturday 5th Sept  Mens 4XI  vs ORA            3pm Sunday 23rd Mens 3rd XI  vs Vijayanti   3pm     Mens 1stXI vs Hollandse      4.30pm  Ladies 1st XI vs Theresians  7.30pm i  Representative on the SHF committee Nel in addition to her role as ladies 1s captain also served on the SHF committee as she is leaving we need to replace Nel. The role as an council member is that you will serve independently in the interests of hockey in Singapore however yoru presence on the committee does ensure a broader perspective and is very valuable to Singapore hockey and us as a club. If you are interested in the role please contact Jacque at jashorrocks@gmail.com          Umpiring There are still places on the Umpiring course this Saturday 5th September message Jacque if you are interested ( Ned?)  If you already have an umpiring qualification you can be registered to umpire in Singapore without doing the course. THC - White Collar Boxing 17th October 2015

Hi Tornados

 

Liza Cox from our ladies 1^st team is competing in the White collar boxing event

We already have about 12 ladies going and some men’s 2s we thought it’d be great to get lots more Tornados to go along and support her

 

Here are the details for the event

 

White collar boxing has raised over 2 million dollars towards the children’s surgical centre in Cambodia and have been able to give over 5,000 free surgeries to children in need.

 

 

17th October at the Suntec Convention Centre (awesome location)  

Red carpet, black tie  (who doesn't like getting all dressed up and having their photo taken)

4 course meal

Free flow beer and wine

Awesome show all night (3 female fights, 7 male fights)

Contributing to a GREAT charity

Get to watch me box!

$300 per ticket (think of all the things you are getting for your money)

 

All the people I know who have gone have labelled it “One of the best nights out in Singapore".

Hi Tornados! I'm sure everyone is excited about the new public holiday announced so to keep the good news coming it's that time of year again to get the calendar out and mark down the 21st November as this year's Agro Cup! For those not sure what this means, it's another day where we get to invade the Boon Lay pitch separated by our country of origins and enjoy some mixed social hockey as a club. More details will follow in the upcoming weeks and look out for the Facebook event to let us know if you'll be coming along or not. Cheers

Hi Tornados  Happy Monday ! We managed a loss a win and a walkover this weekend The mens 1s went down 2-1 versus Khalsa, it was not a good performance from our boys BUT we know they can play much better than that and will beat them in the return match. The ladies opposition didnt turn up so our ladies have a 5-nil win, the mens 4s played SRC and WON 1-nil. Their first win of the season well done. It is quite a straight forward course all of us that have a knowledge of the game should be able to do and you get paid to umpire and get to wear those lovely pink, green and turquoise shirts!!

Hi Tornados  Happy Monday ! We had a busy weekend with all bar one of our teams playing a game and lots of socialising  A mixed bag of results on the pitch with 4 losses, a win and a bronze medal! Excellent peformance off the pitch: after watching 3 games of hockey, there was a lively bus ride from Sengkang to Bungy bar where we partied until the early hours of Sunday morning. Dear Tornados,

 

Tour is coming!!!

 

Thank you so much for the overwhelming expression of interest!! We have a strong crew attending and its set to be a one of our best tours yet!

 

Tornados Singapore will be returning to Ho Chi Minh City to take part in the 8th Vietnam Hockey Festival which is an outdoor 6-a-side hockey tournament.

 

Dates: 7th & 8th November 2015 (Saturday & Sunday), Fly in Friday night

Tournament Venue: Vietnam Hockey Centre, Ben Luc Town, Long An Province (Near Ho Chi Minh City), VIETNAM

 

All details are included in the attached document – if you would like to take part, please register and pay by 21 August to secure a place on the tour. As we need to order kit, registration is only considered complete once payment has been received.

 

Teams will be allocated after registration is complete. We will have at least 2 women’s teams and 2 men’s teams.

 

This year’s Saturday Party fancy dress theme is “Superheroes/Superheroines Defeat Villains”. So come dressed up!

 

Also, with the Singapore Public Holiday on Tuesday 10th November (Deepavali), there is an opportunity to take the Monday 9th off and make a super long weekend to do some Vietnam sightseeing! This is outside of tour so please organize yourself with other teammates.

Majulah Singapura and indeed onwards we march as Tornados! Training: Only one session this week, Wednesday 8-10pm for all teams. Matches: FFS, it's Friday night: Mens' 2s 8pm vs SRC Super Saturday: Ladies' 2s 4.30pm vs Vijayanti Mens' 2s 6pm vs Hollandse Mens' 3s 7.30pm vs Balestier Lions Struggling Sunday: Ladies 1s 4.30pm vs SRC Mens' 4s vs Republic Poly Super Saturday will see the club organise food and drink pitchside at Sengkang before we all head to Bungy Bar together on the awaiting minibus to continue the festivities. It's a great way to get to know other members of the club so please come down to Super Saturday to support and enjoy the club atmosphere.  Roger

THC - Super Saturday 15th August

Hi Tornados! So with the Men's and Ladies 2's seasons finally coming to a close next weekend we'll be arranging a Super Saturday to celebrate the final day of the season. The Men's 3's will also be playing that day so we encourage everyone to invade Sengkang for the afternoon with play starting at 4:30pm. Drinks and Food will be flowing pitch side and we'll organise a bus to take us all down to Bungy Bar to continue the celebrations. Have a great National Day Weekend!
