Saturday 20th February - 6-8 PM Sengkang

It will be our first day of shenanigans for the year and we are really looking forward to seeing as many people as possible! Don't stress, its going to be a social day with a touch of Tornados competitiveness, so that we have everyone in the best team for their ability and attitude. If you know you will be away... please ensure you are at training, as selection is already in process for those that can't make it. 

Later this week a survey will appear for you to fill out regarding..
1) Which team you would like to play for..
2) Availability for selection day
3) Availability for the season

AND... of course there will be a Tornados social event to soothe your 2 hours of power following selection!!

Men's 4s are on the lookout for a Coach/ Manager for the 2016 season. Its a great opportunity to give back to the club and they are truly delightful bunch that would just love to learn a thing or two from the experienced hockey players within our club. If you are interested or know someone who would be a good fit please address either Simon Read or THE Andrew Barnaby.

Heelllllooooo Tornados,

The season is coming!!!
Not like Winter in the US but its definitely just around the corner.

Men's LIGA is set to start in February with 3 teams set to jump in and get some match fitness before thier League season. Fixtures and team details to be released soon!

So hopefully by now you are all aware that due to popular demand there is a SELECTION DAY!
Don't stress, its going to be a social day with a touch of Tornados competitiveness, so that we have everyone in the best team for their ability and attitude.

As soon as we have locked in the date (20th Feb - TBC) we will let you all know! ("oh-no" I hear you say... "I won't be there!!" Fear less! Get yourself to hockey and fitness training so we can see your happy smiles and can-do attitudes so you don't miss out on getting in that team you really want to!)

Was one of your resolutions get fit for hockey or even just yourself? Well forget the gym.. Come and join your team members and get super motivated with a bunch of kick-arse crew that will make an hour of exercise bearable and fun! We all know that hockey is an awful lot more enjoyable when you can make it from one end of the pitch to the other without needing a bench break!

Please make the following payment to Tornados Hockey Club: Payment for 2016 Tornados Membership Fee - Full membership Payment Description Hi  Everyone, Here is the detail of 2016 Membership fees. Full membership - $450. This includes all training, coaches, League and Liga games in 2016. Indoor games, tours and social events are optional and not included in this amount. Ladies’ 3 membership - $350. This include all training, coaches and friendly games in 2016. This membership does not include the participation in the League. Ladies who will like to play for the women’s 2s and join the League could do it at a later stage and pay the additional 100$’s fee. Committee membership - $225.00. This is for committee members who contribute their own time to the club. Training membership - $150.00. This includes training only. No matches. Student membership - $150.00. Available to all members who hold a valid student pass and includes all training plus League and Liga games. Indoor games, tours and social events are optional and not included in this amount. Social membership - $50.00. You want to continue to support the club but will not be playing or training. Good Morning Tornados,

Another weekend down in 2016 already!
The hockey season will start before we know it, so we better start getting into shape!!

TRAINING TIMES BELOW

Talking about getting in shape, that's exactly what the committee spent Saturday doing! Getting ready for yet another amazing Tornados year. Check out the message from our President to see what to expect from your club this year.

Message from our President

Dear Tornados,

We, the committee members, had our kick off meeting on 16th Jan and we would like to share our ideas with you.

First of all, we decided to have two main goals for the committee and we would measure all our actions and decisions against these two goals. The goals are as below:
 

1. We would like that all Tornados teams play interesting and good hockey and end up at least the top half of their respective SHF leagues. We would like to win at least 3 tournaments we enter our teams in. We would also like to get our 3rd Men's team back in the 3rd league.
2. We would like our club to maintain the "inclusive" club image and we would bring all teams socially together and every member shall have the feeling that she/he belongs to the club.

To achieve these goals we made an action plan and to keep you all informed and get your feedback, we would like to share our plan with you. In case you feel that we have missed out any aspects and you would like us to consider those, please do approach any of the committee members and we are more than happy to consider your suggestions.

To achieve our hockey goals, we have planned the following:

• We would have 4 Men's teams and 2 Women's teams this year in SHF leagues. There would also be a third Women's team which would be more of a social team and would comprise of players who have started with the sport. These members would also have a reduced membership fees and once they feel confident and would like to participate in tournaments than they would be given the chance. For more details please contact, Simon Read, Director of Hockey.
• All teams would have coaches, managers and key players identified now in January itself to run the teams throughout the year. However, the captains of the teams would be announced only after the respective team selections. Please contact for further information Andrew Barnadiston for Men's teams and Meagan Reus for Women's teams.
• Team selections for the Men's 1&2 and Women's 1&2, as the league is starting in first half of the year, would happen on a selection day (Feb 20th 2016). The Selection to the teams would be based on three criteria - Skills, Commitment and Availability. Please contact Simon Read for more details.
• There would be Liga for Men's 3&4 in the first half of the year. A shorter Liga for the Men 1s before their start of SHF League. And a Women's Liga for the Women's teams in the second half of the year. Please contact Simon Read for more details.
• We would also enroll our teams into some of the local tournaments like SCC 6s, Balestair 5s, Masters, Indoor hockey, etc. These tournaments would not be just our 1st teams but some of these would also be open for other teams. Again, please contact Simon Read for more details.

To achieve our social goals, we plan the following:

• We plan to have at least 5 Super Saturdays, where we meet and cheer not just our own teams but also other teams as well. we would try to do different social activities to cater for different tastes on these Super Saturdays. The details would be shared with you very soon.
• We plan to have more Intra club hockey events, one every quarter. The first one being the Team Selection Day with a social event after the sport part of the day.
• We plan to have one more Club Tour this year apart from the yearly tour to Vietnam, which is a great success every year. We are in the process of selecting the tour and would inform you as soon as have some preference.

THC - Back to Training

Dear Tornados,

First of all we, the new committee, wish you all a very happy and healthy new year and I hope you all had a great vacations either here in Singapore or abroad with your near and dear ones.

We are at this moment in the process of taking over from the last year's committee and hope to be up and running effectively latest by the end of Jan. We are having our kick off meeting on 16th of Jan and would give you more details on our action plan for the coming year after this meeting.

With this email, I would like to remind you once more that we have a training session on the coming Tuesday, 12th Jan 2016, at the Evans Road Hockey Pitch from 8pm till 10pm.

I am sure, after all that eating and drinking during the festive season, we can do with some training on Tuesday and this would also be a great opportunity to say personally happy new year to all the fellow Tornados.

Looking forward to seeing you all in big numbers on Tuesday...
