THC - New Committee Members

Dear Tornados I would like to announce that three club members have agreed to join the committee to fill the huge void left by Teej, Warwick and Reachelle Beasley's departure from the committee.  Lucy Penney is to be Membership Secretary  Claude Vuille Lessard is to be General Secretary  Jonathon Stokes is to be Treasurer  Thanks to Lucy, Claude and Jonathon for volunteering and thanks to Teej, Warwick and Reachelle for all their hard work in the past, we will miss them.   Jacqueline Club President

THC - SHF Queries Update

Hi Tornados.  You may recall I wrote to the SHF a couple of months ago requesting amongst other things, that they review their registration rules and about Tornados players umpiring.  I have  had a very positive response to both questions   Player Registration a) The SHF  have agreed to consider a review of their rules to allow players to play in a higher team. The SHF have asked for examples of how leagues in other countries manage this and for us to present it to the SHF clubs.  I have examples of what is done in the UK but if any of you have good examples from other contries please forward to me. b) Enforcement of player eligibility against NRIC cards. The SHF have agreed to consider this   Umpiring a)  The SHF have introduced a feedback form this season, i would encourage all captains and coaches to use these. b) Tornados members as Umpires. The SHF would welcome any qualified umpires from the club. You don't need to be qualified in Singapore but they would need evidence of qualification from your own or another country.  Currently we have one Tornado umpiring for the SHF - Lawrence.   If anyone else is interested in umpiring please let me know and send a copy of your qualification. If anyone not yet qualified, is interested in umpiring, please let me know. There is a course happening on the 5th July and other courses happen throughout the year. Other queries THe SHF also shared with us their insurance policy details and we will be advising members about possible insurance options in the near future. They will also look to address the imbalance in number of games played by some leagues   Please note the proposed changes to player registration are not confirmed but at least we are having a dialogue and moving in the right direction. THC - SUPER IMPORTANT: KIT

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

So we have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that the kit is here and it looks AMAZING.

The bad news is that it's the wrong colour. Well, apart from the boys shorts, they are spot on. Tops, socks and ladies skorts will be re-printed in the right colour.

This means we can give you nice sparkly new kit this weekend, and then we get to do it ALL OVER AGAIN in about a month. Talk about value for money 'Nados! Don't ever say we don't love you peeps….

Please come down to Boomers on Sat for the "Not Really Our Kit Launch"! Boomers will be laying on a spread for you all, we will be there from 3pm and the booze will be flowing as we drink to the point where navy becomes easily confused with purple, and we discover its a totally normal mistake to make.

Suz and I have bought fancy drinking hats especially for the occasion, because it's not every day you get to have a NOT OUR ACTUAL KIT Kit Launch.

THC - 6th - 8th June 2014 - Match Reports

The women B had their 2 toughest matches of the season this weekend, starting on Friday night against Jansenites. Great commitment from the ladies, and the Beasleys, with Rosh playing on her birthday and the Father and Daughter combo of Wazza and Anjali taking on the coaching roles. The 1-5 scoreline was insignificant once the birthday bubbly was cracked open. Saturday saw the turn of men B taking on NTU; an action-packed match with more chances than the score reflects but with Tornados walking away 2-0 victors. Back in action again on the Sunday, women B took on NYP. NYP have dominated league 2 this year and this match was unfortunately no exception; a stronger second half contained the scoreline to a 1-4 loss.

http ://youtu . be/Cazk8RuQD5M Weather played a massive part again in the scheduling for this weekend. Men B were very comfortable going in to their match against SRC, having finally managed to scrape together a few subs. This must have thrown them off their game as they unfortunately went down 1 - 3 to a strong SRC side. Men A were scheduled to open the days action on Sunday but only managed a short amount of play before the lightning foiled all plans. Women A were up against a notoriously tough Jansenites side; adding a goal to the seasons tally but unfortunately losing 1 - 3 at full time. Women B were looking to further build on their positive season in their match against a new Eagles side. The lightning stopped play with 20 minutes left of the match, but with the scoreline at 2 - 0. Women C played their final match of their inaugural season against Theresians. Not an easy match to end on; the ladies put up a strong fight unfortunately ending up on the wrong side of a 2 - 0 scoreline. A great season for the ladies and lots to build on for next year.

THC - Committee vacancy

Dear Tornado

 

I am very sorry to advise that TJ has decided to step down from her role as membership secretary for the club. TJ has worked tirelessly for Tornados for many years and we will miss her massive and valuable contribution.  Thankfully TJ will continue to play for the ladies first team.     

 

We know we have a massive gap to fill and also know it is unrealistic for anyone to do as much as TJ did. As a result we are looking to reorganize and share out some of the responsibilities amongst committee members and are looking to recruit a couple of people to the committee, we'd love to hear from you if you're interested in getting involved.

 

As a Tornado committee member, in addition to your specific role responsibilities you will have a say on all matters regarding the clubs operation. So, if you are interested please contact me as soon as possible. No previous experience required!   

 

In the meantime if you have any queries you would have addressed to TJ please contact myself or any other member of the committee with that query.
