Tornados Hockey Club

Good Morning Tornados.

No outdoor hockey matches last weekend but the ladies entered the indoor tournament and played against Indonesian and Singaporean teams, including the Singapore national team. The ladies played brilliantly with most never having had played indoor before. Our ladies soon picked up the skills and were impressive finishing 3rd. We had no official Goal Keeper but you would not have guessed if you saw Kirsten Fish, Caroline Wheen and Annie Chan in action, they all took turns in goal and were fantastic!

Congratulations to Alex and Jago who had a baby daughter on Saturday morning called Martha Alice

Tornados Hockey Club

Good evening Tornados!

Last week's games: The ladies 2s played SCC in a friendly game, Wednesday (lost 2-0). Saturday, the 1st XI men lost to NHL1 3rd ranked team Jansenites 6-3, while the Men 3s were able to play one of their 2 games of the weekend: they lost 3-1 to NTU (watch their hockey selfie stick report on our facebook group!). The Men 4s started strongly their last regular game of the season but lost (1-2) after scoring the first goal against Hypernovas (watch Man of the match Rupert's interview on facebook!). Sunday, both the Ladies 1st XI against NYP and Men 3s against SRC saw their games postponed because of hazy conditions.

Morning Tornados

I am not sure if I dare say it but, we seem to be coming out of the haze. All games and practices went ahead last week only Monday fitness was affected.

The 1st XI men lost both their matches this week to the top two teams SCC and SRC; losing 4-2 and 6-nil respectively, despite the score they were both good games and our team played well. The 3rd XI men lost heavily to Tannebilles who had a squad of 19 to our 11. The ladies 1st XI lost 3-nil to SCC. another great game against a strong 'scoring' team. Min Tze the GK deservedly got man of the match as did Adi for the mens 1st XI game vs SCC.

We had poor availability again this week due to - school holidays, wedding celebrations and boxing prepartions, which were known and planned for. However there were several last minute pull outs(again) leaving the teams playing with a squad of 11 and some carrying injuries. In the heat and humidity of Singapore that is tough.  So, BE KIND TO YOUR TEAM MATES AND TURN UP and make sure your Teamsnap is updated and not changed at the last minute!

Sadly we said good bye to Pete Hill who is off to Malaysia but hopefully will come back and see us soon. However as is the way with Singapore life we are saying hello to more new members: Nanda, Jill and Sarah have joined the ladies and Sean and Scot the mens section

Morning Tornados

A haze affected week as far as playing hockey goes this week, luckily the social side was still going strong

All games were cancelled on Saturday- look out for re-arranagement notices in the next day or so.

The ladies 1st XI game went ahead on Sunday vs NYP losing 2-1. Our ladies played brilliantly! They really should have won as they had many chances, they dominated the game and played some beautiful hockey. Due to last minute pull outs, the team played with only 11 players vs the opposition's 17. Welcome back from injury Aoiffe, Caroline and Sarah Croz.
