THC - Roger's Update - 30th May 2017

Q: How do you tell the difference between a frog and a horny toad?

A HUGE social success! The cheering at Sengkang (SK) was amazing and your attire was excellent (for some). Thanks to all of you that went the extra distance to SK to cheer on the lads and showed so much Tornado spirit! On that note, check out all the games been played on the weekend under "upcoming hockey events" to see if there is a game, before or after you, that you might find the time to watch. EVERYONE loves a cheer squad.

I hope you all made the most of your discounts at Harry's and all gave Phoebe a clap on the back for organising yet another amazing afternoon/ evening. With such fun still at the forefront of your memory (if you indeed remember) sign up now for our next social! Its going to be a banger!

RESULTS
Win of the week went to the mens 1's who went on a goal splurge in the second part of thier last half scoring 6 goals on top of an already 2-0 lead against SRC. The crowd was WOWed by a hat-trick from the Irish Lad, Mike, who placed some excellent goals to put SRC to bed.
The tee-totalling twos had an extra tough weekend with a double header against the tougher part of thier leagues competion. Knowing they didn't have a bench, the boys had a quiet night and it showed! The Sunday they played great defence only conceding 4 goals to an extremely frustrated Project Vaults.
Mens 4's came in with another win against the police, securing more points to make it likely to place in the top 4 of thier LIGA competition which is a fantastic effort for the men.
Ladies 1s had a late walkover taking the points and the ladies 2's had a weekend off with a double header to play this weekend coming.

RESULTS
The Mens 3's take out last weekends best team for Tornados; winning 4-0 to the Eagles in the lead up to what seems to be a promising league season ahead.
Ladies 1's played up against a challenging Crescent hockey club, and challenges were many. An early goal for Tornados deflected into the back of the net by Aiofe got the game started, what ensued was frustrating hockey. Even with majority of possesion the ladies were unable to capitalise conceding two goals against them in short lapses of concentration. The frustration hit peak levels when a goal was disallowed for interesting reasons. A scrambled second goal at some point levelled the scores and stayed that way until the final whistle. A huge thanks to Dave Hogg for stepping in to coach over the weekend.
The ladies 2's were impressive in thier defiance against the Singapore National team. The ladies never gave up with an impressive performance from Ruthie Burr in goals saving multitudes of goals against a fit, young, skillful team. Arguably its ridiculous that a team like that should be allowed to play in the second league but it did give the ever optimistic ladies great defensive practice.
Mens 1's got 15 minutes into a game before heading back home.
Mens 2's missed the storm but created thier own on the pitch with 6 cards to Tornados, a broken Riggers and a frustrating draw. With suspensions looming and injuries to boot the Men will suffer over the double header this weekend.

LEAGUE
Mens:
Mens 1's vs ORA POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER
Mens 2's vs Barkerites DRAW 1-1
Womens:

Womens 1's vs Crescent DRAW 2-2
Womens 2's vs Project Vaults LOSS
LIGA
Mens 3s vs Eagles B WIN 4-0

....I don't know what he laced them with, but I was tripping all day.

RESULTS
We will start with the Saturday where the Mens 3's got the weekend off to a start in a heavily carded lively match against the always agressive and emotional Dutch team. A dissapointed team walked off after a close game that should have gone the other way. With the BBQ kicking off and an excited cheer squad the 4's pulled out all the stops, for what was dubbed 'Champagne hockey', overrunning the Prison boys with lots of attack and a strong defence from some new recruits.
The Mens 1s slept in on Sunday with no worries taking the walkover from the Dutch while the rigidly teetotaling 2's were fired up after a good nights sleep to take the points from Barkerites, with a clean slate thanks to a sober MOM Stokes.
The ladies teams both played at the same time and somehow both managed to have goals disallowed! This was much more traumatic for the ladies 2's who were also denied the win because of it. After a hard fought match with the majority of posession the ladies drew to SCC with no score on the board. The ladies 1's in a lacklustre performance just kept the SRC team at bay to win 2-1.

LEAGUE
Mens:
Mens 1's vs Hollandse WIN 5-0 WALKOVER
Mens 2's vs Barkerites WIN 2-0
Womens:

Womens 1's vs SRC WIN 2-1
Womens 2's vs SCC DRAW 0-0
LIGA
Mens 3s vs Hollandse B LOSS 1-2
Mens 4s vs PSRC WIN 2-1
