THC - Roger's Update - 10th October 2017

Q: What is a maths teachers favourite Sum?

Hi there Tornados,
There isn't much to convey this week.. so I have a riddle for you instead:

I am a fruit. If you take away the first letter of my name I become a crime.
Take away the first two letters of my name, I become an animal.
Take away the first and last letter of my name and I become a form of music.
What am I?

Good luck with that one... answer in next weeks newsletter. (If you really can't cope with waiting you can ask Roger - always available on FB)

As the year is fast approaching the end, we look forward to this years wrap at our Annual General Meeting.
As all should know, we have lost many of our committee members this year to the allure of other adventures. If you think you can contribute or would like to find out more there are plenty of positions. Ask Izzy or any committee member regarding what is involved and how you can give back to this volunteer run club.
If you don't have time to participate perhaps instead you can make a donation to the Tornados hockey club as a sponsor (advertising rights options). We will be looking out for companies that might be able to help us continue into the future. Again ask Izzy, or any of the committee members, for details.

RESULTS

The first washout of the league season didn't dampen the spirits of the 4s, who happily tucked into their "last match of the season beers" a couple of hours earlier than expected. Rearranged fixture for the end of the month will allow them to do it all over again...
The 3s suffered the same fate with a washout against ORA forcing them into a double header this weekend.
The storms of Singapore had the ladies LIGA league touch and go all weekend with the ladies eventually able to play 3 out of 4 of the games scheduled. With fluctuating numbers and girls racing against the downpours both teams played well to secure 2 out of the 3 wins. Aifoe came out blazing walking away as the leading goalscorer for the season over just one weekend. Some great saves from Taylor kept the Tornados from being served a severe beating against a top form Dutch team. A near perfect finish from Zaheen in the last 30 seconds made the scoreline more respective of the game.
A good all-round effort from everyone that showed up made for a great busy weekend of hockey.
