THC - Roger's Update -7th December

Morning Tornados,

What a fit lot we (you) are! About 20 Tornados competed in either the Marathon, Half Marathon or 10Km races in the Standard Chartered event yesterday. Brilliant work everyone!

Well the Christmas bells and tills are ringing and the year is heading to its climax- The Tornados Christmas Party. If you haven't got your tickets you know what to do! The LucyHillyMilly team have been very kind and agreed to give you until Wednesday to you buy your tickets, so get on and do it. Remember it's Christmas themed fancy dress, so we are expecting a colourful event.   

As is the way with Singapore, some of our amazing Tornados family are leaving us. Mark 'Berros' Berridge is going back to OZ but promises to come back and visit (at least for the SCC 6s). Mark has been a key member of the club in the two+ years he has been here. He has been men's club captain, men's 3s captain and generally great all round hockey guy. The 8ft Dutchman, Max Van Meeteren is also leaving, he has only been here a short time but has made a huge impression in that time we hope to see you again. Farewell to you both and to any others who may be leaving, you will be missed.

On Saturday our combined mens teams entered two teams into a Hockey fiesta, and one of those teams, the maroon team came 3rd.  The winning team were mainly the Singapore national team and our team comprised of players from our 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th XI teams -so not a bad effort from us Tornados at all.

Our Annual General Meeting is this Friday, 27th November 2015 at 8pm!  

We can't wait to see you all in great numbers at Boomerang Boat Quay (2nd floor). 

1) Please have a look at our list of nominees for the committee members and club representants positions. Attached: the list, including the description of duties. You have until Friday, 12pm (noon) to send me your nomination.

**TO ALL NOMINEES, make sure you read the descriptions of duties; you will also need to have a proposer and a seconder for your nomination ready for the AGM (please send me the names before). If a nomination proposer / seconder cannot be present at the AGM, they need to personally send me an email stating the nomination, along with their proxy letter.***

2) You can designate a member as your proxy to vote on your behalf, if you cannot be present Friday.

THC - Roger's Update -23rd November

Morning Tornados,

What a brilliant Agro cup we had, with over 70 players attending including some of our newest recruits.
Well done to Dane for organising and well done to the red white and blue team -UK 1 who won the final against a very strong ANZA team.  

Still more hockey happening this week and our Annual General Meeting this Friday!

As there is no club training this week, mens and ladies 1s are welcome to come along to the above friendly matches but be aware we are playing the lower SCC teams.

Mens Fiesta Hockey Village 8am -4pm
We are entering two teams of players from the mens 2s 3s and 4s. 
If you have not signed up for this event and want to play let your captain know

The leagues are finished but the AGRO Cup is coming! The ladies and mens 1st teams played their last league games of the season on Saturday. The ladies lost 2 nil to the eventual league winners, SCC but if we had had a couple more players we could have easily upset the league placings. The mens 1s had their first official win, easily beating Khalsa 3-1. Debuts for two new players Chris Lee and Andrew Gilmer. Happy Deepavali Tornados ! Thank goodness its a public holiday after the weekend the TOURnados had. Our theme was the emergency services and there were certainly a lot of casualties and still some MIA. Well done to B-Rad and Izzy for organising the whole weekend and to Aisling for managing all the teams.         It is the last of the league hockey games this weekend, with both 1st XI teams playing on Saturday. However there are still friendly hockey games and tournaments happening until the end of November so a good amount of hockey to be had. Club training continues on Tuesdays until the 8th December Looking ahead to 2016 : Training restarts on January 12th at Evans Road As far as we know the leagues start in mid March for mens and ladies, 1s and 2s Liga starts in February for the mens 3s and 4s                  This week   Tuesday  Club Training 8-10 pm DELTA  Yes even though its a public holiday ! We will send a message via facebook an hour before the start to confirm cancelation.   If any suffer from respiratory problems then you are advised not to train when levels are 100.      Matches are called off by the SHF and usually they make the decision by 12 noon on the day of the matches. Good Morning Tornados. We had a week of 'haze free' hockey with training and games all going ahead. The mens 1st team recorded their first win with a walkover against Hollandse. The ladies 1s also had their first win, beating Crescent 4-nil on Saturday, and then beating Jensentites 4-1 on Sunday. The mens 3s played one of their best games of the season against top of the table SRC losing 3-nil but went on to beat Hollandse on Sunday 3-nil. The ladies 2s entered into a tournament on Saturday winning 3 of their games, losing 2 and drawing one. Sadly we saw Annie Chan play her last game for Tornados yesterday, she is going to continue her playing in Honkers! Excitement is buidling for the tour to Vietnam this weekend and fancy dress hunting dominates the whats app group conversations. Face book will be updated with all the tour shenanigans. Remember to go to Boomerang Boat Quay on Thursday to pick up your kit. Good Morning Tornados. No outdoor hockey matches last weekend but the ladies entered the indoor tournament and played against Indonesian and Singaporean teams, including the Singapore national team. The ladies played brilliantly with most never having had played indoor before. Our ladies soon picked up the skills and were impressive finishing 3rd. We had no official Goal Keeper but you would not have guessed if you saw Kirsten Fish, Caroline Wheen and Annie Chan in action, they all took turns in goal and were fantastic!      Congratulations to Alex and Jago who had a baby daughter on Saturday morning called Martha Alice This week   Monday Night Fitness 8-9pm  Evans road- All welcome  meet at the grandstand BUT very unlikely to happen based on the view outside my window now   Tuesday  Club Training 8-10 pm EVANS ROAD   Wednesday Mens and Ladies 1st XI  Training 8-10pm EVANS ROAD  Matches  Friday 30th October Mens 1st XI vs Hollandse 8pm Sengkang   Saturday 31st October Ladies 1st XI vs Crescent 3pm Sengkang Mens 3rd XI vs SRC 6pm Sengkang Sunday 1st November  Ladies 1st XI vs Jensenites 4.30pm at Sengkang Mens 3rd XI final placing game time tbc from 4.30pm   Social AGRO Cup 21st November  Boon Lay Hockey Village   Christmas Frolics  12th December  watch this space  Annual General meeting Friday 27th November.
