Morning Tornados  I hope you have all recovered from a hazy and social LONG weekend. A good number of Tornados,30 plus, adorned Boomerang on Saturday night, although none of the DOD's turned up, at least not in costume.      Results were not great this weekend but the 2 two teams that played, played some very good hockey under difficult conditions. The mens 1st XI lost 7-nil with 10 men (including two rising stars from the 3rd XI) against SRC who are effectively the Singapore national team. The team played well, everyone gave their all and we even had some scoring chances, Gary Lee's drag flick hit the post. The mens 4th XI lost narrowly to Jensenites 3-2 on Saturday (Lawrence scored a flick) and were unlucky not to draw. The 4s had to play again on Sunday with the same squad of 12 and lost 4 nil to Barkerites who were skillful and had many more subs. Hopefully we will be back to normal availability from next weekend!     Sadly Tim Jones leaves us this week- bound for Hong Kong. We have alraeady asked him to book tickets for the Rugby sevens and to expect lots of Tornaods in Hong Kong!   This week   Monday Night Fitness 8-9pm  Evans road- All welcome  meet at the grandstand  Tuesday  Club training (mens 2s, 3s and 4s, ladies 2s)   8-10 pm DELTA     Wednesday Mens' and ladies 1st XI training   8-10pm DELTA Matches  Saturday 3rd October     1st XI men  vs Hollandse 4.30pm 3rd XI men vs SRC 3pm 4th XI men vs Hypernova 7.30pm Sunday 4th October  1st XI Ladies vs NYP 6pm     Social- Advance warning  AGRO Cup 21st November   Reserve the date for this important Annual event- A club tournament where we remember our national roots and play hockey for our country's honour. Rumour is that the Springboks will be entering a team this year.            HAZE protocol  We have decided that training will be called off if haze levels are at 150+ based on the local to Delta PSI 1 hr reading. We will send a message via facebook an hour before the start to confirm cancelation.   If any suffer from respiratory problems then you are advised not to train when levels are 100.      Have a good week  Love Roger

Morning Tornados  A fairly quiet week last week with the haze and an admin error affecting our hockey training, and the F1 taking up our weekend. Back to normal this week hopefully. Delta have assured us the pitch is now open and apologised for not telling us they were keeping the pitch closed an extra week! Sadly the pitch is not relaid or repaired; that is rumoured to be happening at the end of the year.    We played two friendlies and one league game this week. The mens 4s and ladies 1s both drew vs SCC in their friendlies and the Ladies 1s drew in their league match versus Jensenites on Friday. Thanks to umpires Wayne, Sean and Sarah for umpiring the friendy games-much appreciated by both teams.       This week   Monday Night Fitness 8-9pm  Evans road- All welcome  meet at the grandstand  Tuesday  Club training (mens 2s, 3s and 4s, ladies 2s)   8-10 pm DELTA     Wednesday Mens' and ladies 1st XI training   8-10pm DELTA Matches  Saturday 26th September   1st XI Men  vs SRC reds 3pm 4th XI men vs Jensenites 4.30pm Sunday 27th September  4th XI men vs Barkerites 7.30pm     Social  Double Dick Header of the Day   Boomerang  Boat quay from 7pm To celebrate the Men's 4's Weekend Double Header, and the crowning achievement of some of the more unique individuals in our club I invite you all along from 7pm….and expect you all to parade your team's "Dick of The Day" in an appropriately ridiculous outfit.The Men's 4s will be heading down en masse and after a tough season I'm sure they would appreciate your camaraderie! We have $1000 to burn behind the bar and the celebrated Dicks will of course be well looked after - with a special prize for the most impressive Dick. THC - Double Dick Header of The Day Social

Dear Tornado, I can assure you that this email has nothing to do with those dodgy offers you get, and I cannot offer you any cut price Viagra or growth pills. What I can offer you is a rollicking good time, and all subsidised by our friends at Boomarang Bar, Boat Quay next Saturday night 26th September. To celebrate the Men's 4's Weekend Double Header, and the crowning achievement of some of the more unique individuals in our club I invite you all along from 7pm….and expect you all to parade your team's "Dick of The Day" in an appropriately ridiculous outfit. Morning Tornados  Looks like everyone had a great Election holiday weekend. Some left the haze of Singapore but a good number stayed to play hockey at the Wooden Shoe tournamant on Saturday. Unfortunately the haze stopped all games on Sunday.   Our mens 1st team 'De Orkaan' ( Tornado in Dutch) won the wooden shoe in spectacular style with a golden goal in extra time, scored by captain for the day Remi Cheriex. Our favourite Catalan:Joan Capdevilapuig won man of the tournament ! The mens 2ds De Bitterballen won the plate(came 3rd ) and the ladies teams De Hutspot and De Stroopwafles came 3rd and 4th.     This week   We are back to our normal location- Delta, for training for the rest of September however we have friendly games for the mens 4s and, ladies 1s and 2s at Evans road this week   Monday Night Fitness 8-9pm  Evans road- All welcome  meet at the grandstand  Tuesday  Ladies 2s friendly match vs SCC 7-8.30 meet at 6.30 Evans Road             Mens 4s friendly vs SCC 8.30-10 meet at 8pm  Evand road              Club training/ friendly match mens 2s vs 3s  8-10 pm DELTA     Wednesday Mens 1st XI training (plus possible friendly match) DELTA Friday Ladies 1s vs Jensenites 8pm Sengkang   HAZE protocol  We have decided that training will be called off if haze levels are at 150. Morning Tornados  This weekend we said good bye to Kristina who, bye again to Alice (who will be back), happy birthday to Fishy and Jane and hello to yet more new Tornados players. Chloe, Clare, Maaike, Sam.  On the pitch, our mens 1s lost 3-1 to the Dutch but played really well but we just couldn't score, the Dutch GK is pretty good and 8ft tall. The ladies had yet another walkover as their oposition have pulled out of the league, the mens 3s won 2-1 in a very good match where we could have probaly scored 3 or 4 more( misses from....?) the mens 4s lost 4 nil against I suspect a very young ORA playing at teh hottest time of the day.           This week   Changes to our normal plans as Delta has been commandeered by the governement to hold Election Rallies   Monday Club Training 8-10pm Evans road- All teams except ladies 2s Tuesday  Ladies 2s friendly match vs SCC 7-8.30 meet at 6.30 Evans Road               Mens 3s friendly vs SCC 8.30-10 meet at 8pm    Saturday 12th Sept  Wooden shoe Tournament 8-30-5pm.  If you' re not playing but want to, contact your captain to see if there are any spaces. If you want to watch spectators are welcome and it's usually a very good social affair too.     Sunday 13th Sept   Mens 3rd XI  vs Tannebilles   4.30pm     Mens 1stXI vs SCC            6PM tbc Ladies 1st XI vs SCC         6pm  Have a good week  Love Roger

Dear Tornados,

 

Tour is coming!!!

 

Thank you so much for the overwhelming expression of interest!! We have a strong crew attending and its set to be a one of our best tours yet!

 

Tornados Singapore will be returning to Ho Chi Minh City to take part in the 8th Vietnam Hockey Festival which is an outdoor 6-a-side hockey tournament.

 

Dates: 7th & 8th November 2015 (Saturday & Sunday), Fly in Friday night

Tournament Venue: Vietnam Hockey Centre, Ben Luc Town, Long An Province (Near Ho Chi Minh City), VIETNAM

 

All details are included in the attached document – if you would like to take part, please register and pay by 21 August to secure a place on the tour. As we need to order kit, registration is only considered complete once payment has been received.

 

Teams will be allocated after registration is complete. We will have at least 2 women's teams and 2 men's teams.

 

This year's Saturday Party fancy dress theme is "Superheroes/Superheroines Defeat Villains". So come dressed up!

 

Also, with the Singapore Public Holiday on Tuesday 10th November (Deepavali), there is an opportunity to take the Monday 9th off and make a super long weekend to do some Vietnam sightseeing! This is outside of tour so please organize yourself with other teammates.
