THC 1s Top of the Table

The First Team were held to a 2-2 draw by Old Rafflesians on Sunday afternoon. For the Tornados, who were leading 2-0 after 30 minutes, it was definitely a case of 2 points dropped but still enough to put them top of the league.

Andrew Barnardiston, Man of the Match, opened the scoring after 6 minutes when he picked up a pass from Patrick Fok and let rip from the top of the circle. Patrick then made it 2-0 when he cleaned up a rebound from a short corner on 30 minutes. Two minutes before half time, however, ORA broke away after intercepting a back-pass and managed to find the back of the Tornados net courtesy of a fluked reverse stick shot that bobbled up over the keeper.

The second half saw the Tornados hit the post, miss a penalty and Frenchy save a p-flick yet. Despite heroic defending, the Tornados still conceded a goal minutes before full time. However, the team spirit continues to be strong and there was no lack of commitment, with players thoroughly unafraid to throw themselves around and make runs to support and defend. Combining talented players with a great team game, THC are very much the team to beat this season.

Despite the disappointment of a draw, THC go into the August break undefeated and riding high on the back of 3 good performances. In a division where each team plays each other twice, THC are still very much in the driving seat to win the title.
